Sewing machine in good working order, remember to bring the cords, foot pedal & extra bobbins. You should know how to operate your machine before you come to class. Remember to bring the manual. Please clean and oil your sewing machine prior to class..
Walking foot, this is a must. If you do not have one, invest in a walking foot prior to class. You should bring a ¼” foot and the basic sewing foot that came with your machine.
Knee lift if you have one
New size 80 machine needles
Binding clips if you have them, I will give you a few in class.
Scissors for fabric, thread snips or small scissors, fine quilting pins, measuring tape, paper & pen for notes, calculator, highlighter, chalk fabric markers, seam ripper, needle threader, 1” x 6” ruler, ¼ “ seam gauge, mechanical pencil and any other sewing tools you like to use.
A practice quilt. Do not trim the backing and batting. For the purpose of this finishing class your practice quilt should be no more than 24” square no less than 18” square. Do not trim the batting & backing leave it larger than the quilt. We will learn to trim in class.
This quilt should be a light colored fabric on one side & a dark fabric on the other side.
5 strips cut 2.5” by width of fabric. These strips should be a different fabric from either side of the practice quilt.
Flannel is not a good choice for this class.
A spool of 100% cotton, 50 wt thread. This should match the binding fabric.
Also, fill a bobbin with 100% cotton, 50 wt thread that matches the quilt back (the dark fabric)
If you have either DMC™ thread (not floss) or Tire™ silk or similar thread bring a color to match the binding fabric, this is for the hand work.

Please feel free to bring a beverage or snacks. Don’t forget to bring your reading glasses if needed, a sweater and anything else you may need to make your sewing day perfect. If you want a pictorial record of the class you may bring a camera to class.
