Machine Operation -PM Series

The Machine Operation Classes are divided between sewing and embroidery. The first 6 weeks will be on sewing and the final 4 weeks will be on embroidery.  If you miss one class in the series you are welcome to take it next time we run the series, or you can retake the entire series. We offer two time slots each day, you can take the morning session that is 10-12 or the evening session that is 6-8 pm. We do ask that you call to register for the time you plan on coming so we can adjust the classroom as necessary to fit everyone. 

Sewing Portion of Classes:

Week 1- How to wind and insert a bobbin, how to thread your machine and basic controls/functions of your machine.

Week 2- What the included feet are used for, and how to adjust your machine for different stitches.

Week 3- Basic cleaning and maintenance that you can do at home on your machine.

Week 4- All things quilting, how to use your 1/4" foot, walking foot/dual feed feet, BSR or free-motion feet, drop feed dogs, etc.

Week 5- Extra feet, accessories, special needles and threads.

Week 6- Double needles and wing needles.

Embroidery Portion (For machines that have embroidery)

Week 7- How to hoop, basic editing of a design, change colors, etc.

Week 8- How to embroider on a stretchy item like a t-shirt or onesie.

Week 9- How to embroider on a towel or thicker objects.

Week 10- How to do free-standing embroidery such as lace or patches.

Instructor: Amanda
Instructor Bio: Amanda has worked at Upland Vac & Sew for 10 years, training under Lou and Rosalie and working hard to absorb all of their endless knowledge. With Lou retiring this year, Amanda is taking over this series of classes, and is excited to help all of our customers get to know their machines better.
